Nothing is more tedious at the end of a day’s fishing than treating and cleaning fly lines. Although a clean line casts better and lasts longer, many anglers still don’t do it as often as necessary. What if there were a way to perform this task constantly over the course of a day’s fishing without actually doing anything extra? Alpine Innovations introduced its Stripee for just this purpose.
The Stripee resembles a three-fingered glove made of 0.5-mm covered neoprene with industrial-grade felt pads between each finger. Alpine triple-stitches the finger loops with nylon thread and sews in felt pads with cotton-poly thread to ensure softness. An inner scrim in the pads holds the fibers together for increased durability. The saltwater version features extended fingers to protect while stripping and clearing fly lines and backing.
The Stripee is washable and should last for several seasons of constant use. The product comes in four different colors – red, blue, green and black – and in medium, large and extra-large sizes. Custom sizes are also available.
The standard Stripee retails for $9.99; the Saltwater Stripee is $11.99. A special cleaning kit retails for $13.50 and includes a 2-cc tube of UV block cleaner and conditioner.
