Question:
I notice that many people are using the spliced braided mono connectors on either end of their fly line and assume it’s secure. So, using single-strand wire to form a 2-foot splicing needle, I spliced the backing 12 inches inside itself to form a loop and then whipped flat waxed nylon in two places to hold it secure. Is this going to hold?

It will hold well if you coat the wrapping with Pliobond, Aqua-Seal or a similar flexible glue.
