Unfortunately, a fly fishing legend has left us. Yesterday morning, Billy Pate passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. While he was particularly known for his accomplishments as a tarpon angler in areas such as Homosassa, FL, Pate also traveled the world chasing big fish with fly tackle. Pate was an innovator and a true master of the of the sport.

His fly fishing achievements will never be forgotten and his legacy lives on as can be seen in countless writings, instructional videos and of course, the Billy Pate Anti-Reverse series fly reel designed by Tibor.
