Reader Tips: A Handy Cutting Board

My boat didn’t come with a factory cutting board, and I really wasn’t keen on drilling holes into the hull to mount one. Boards that sit in your rod holders exist, but I find they get in the way and take up valuable rod space. To fix the problem, I mounted a cutting board on top of one of my livewell lids. First I removed the lid and laid it upside down on top of a high-density plastic cutting board. Then I traced around the lid and marked the screw holes. I cut the marked board to size using a jigsaw, then drilled out screw holes. To finish the job, I screwed the cutting board to plastic spacers that I placed in between the cutting board and the livewell lid.
