South Padre Island Fishing Report

Texas

The redfish have been tailing almost all over the bay here in South Padre Island Texas. In the afternoons the fish have been moving up onto the sand flats on the east side of the bay around Three Islands area. Spoon flies along with shrimp imitations are working great on these fish. Ladtfish are prevelant here as well and some clients are having more fun with them than the reds.

Tarpon are being caught around the jetties at the Brazos Snatiago Pass. Most are coming on intermediate line blind casting with black and white bunny seaducers. Most of the tarpon are in the 75# range right now but will get bigger as fall approaches. King mackerel are abundant here as well and can be caught in much the same way with a steel bite tippet. We have been cathing them down deep in 30 to 40 feet of water with a sinking line. Most of the kings are running around 15 to 20 pounds.
