2014 Redfish and Trout Challenge Kicks Off

The 2014 Redfish and Trout Challenge kicked off yesterday at FishStock 2014 with 221 anglers in 86 teams competing for $15,000 in cash and prizes.

End of first day catch results posted a total of 98 redfish and 46 trout. The tournament, in its 12th year, continues today with anglers.

Unofficial standings after the first day put Team Moore, which also posted the heaviest redfish of the day, in first place; Team Bell in second; and Team Flying Dutchman third. Team Shackelford/Robinson brought in the heaviest trout of the day, at 6.53 pounds.

Team Moore also claimed Top Redfish Team. Top Trout Team was Team Shackelford/Robinson.

Danielle Gismo of Team Set the Hook claimed Top Female Anger, and Top Junior Angler was Emma Norman of Team Norman.

Team 8″ Deep took honors for the Most Spots on a redfish with a 9 spotter.

Final live weigh-in begins to day at noon at the FishStock Village at the Brannon Center at Riverside Park, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Tournament awards Ceremony, for both the Redfish-Trout Challenge and the New Smyrna Beach Striker Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, begins at 5:00.

Daylong FisnStock events include a 5K run held this morning. FishStock Village is open to the public from10:00 to 7:00 p.m., featuring ChowderFest and KidStock activities, live music, food, and vendor displays.
