On the Troll
Minn Kota’s new Riptide SF bow-mount trolling motor combines rugged construction with precision engineering and electronics, providing serious saltwater anglers with a motor that will perform in the most extreme conditions. The SF features Minn Kota’s Mono Arm, incorporating fewer moving parts and a single main hinge point with a surface area 20 times larger than conventional trolling motor brackets. All metal-on-metal interfaces are isolated with composite bushings, reducing wear, extending motor life and allowing for virtually silent operation. Extruded from marine-grade, corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum, the Mono Arm’s structural beam is lighter yet stronger, providing tighter tolerances and reducing twisting and racking by 75 percent. Riptide SF models are available in 80- or 101-pound thrust versions with 52- or 62-inch shaft lengths. Starting at $1,029.99. www.minnkotamotors.com

Eye Spy**
The new 7 x 50 **Commander XP Marine Binocular **with HD optics and a new hydrophobic coating for all outer lenses has been developed by Steiner’s Optical Engineering team in Germany. Waterproof and submersible to 33 feet of pressure depth, the 37-ounce binoculars are purged and over-pressurized with dry nitrogen to 6 to 7 psi and come with a 30-year limited-lifetime warranty. A new lens-polishing process and multicoated optics maximize light transmission, optical resolution and color fidelity. The choice is yours between a standard model and one with a waterproof, illuminated compass. The compass version includes a reticle system that allows for quick distance reference on objects of known size or height. The XP incorporates the exclusive Steiner Sports-Auto-Focus system. Once set for the user’s eyes, the binocular keeps all objects in focus at distances from 20 yards to infinity. Starting price $999.99; www.steiner-binoculars.com
