G.Loomis released its NRX fly rod series, which features the company’s latest iteration of graphite technology. NRX blanks were produced by marrying a stiff, light and high-density carbon with nanosilica resin systems, which led to rods that are 15 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger than equivalent GLX blanks, says chief rod designer Steve Rajeff. While the series includes 16 models, saltwater anglers likely will gravitate to the four-piece 9-foot designs in 7- to 12-weight. The rods also feature black ion-coated REC Recoil guides, a unique high-density cork handle and proprietary reel seats that have no exposed threads, making it a snap to lock in a reel. MSRP ranges from $750 to $855 for the 7- to 12-weights. www.gloomis.com
