The Leatherman Tool Group released two new, convenient multitools that, when folded up, are not much larger than a pack of gum. The Freestyle and Freestyle CX are based on the company’s popular Skeletool, only they’re smaller and lighter, making them ideal for fly-fishing purposes.

With a weight of 4.5 ounces, both models have an outside-accessible blade and feature the classic Leatherman pliers with wire cutters. Both models’ bodies are constructed of stainless steel, and while the Freestyle features Zytel handle inserts, the Freestyle CX uses carbon-fiber inserts, along with a DLC coating for scratch and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal item for saltwater environments. Both models come equipped with a pocket clip for portability on a belt, and both are covered under Leatherman’s 25-year warranty.

MSRP is $48 (Freestyle) and $72 (Freestyle CX). www.leatherman.com
