For offshore fly-anglers, a new partnership between Northport Systems and the popular Web-based Hilton’s Realtime-Navigator is making it easier than ever to analyze ocean conditions and find fast-moving pelagics such as mahi and tuna.

Through Northport’s online Fugawi X-Traverse system, Hilton’s famoushigh-resolution ocean-condition imagery now can be accessed directly by an angler’s Apple iPhone or via MacENC for Apple OS X.

What does all this technical babble mean? Simple: Images depicting important offshore fishing conditions, such as sea surface temperatures, chlorophyll levels, altimetry and surface currents, now can be conveniently accessed through your cell phone – even as you’re preparing for a trip or running to the fishing grounds in your boat. This kind of portable technology will undoubtedly help you find more fish.
