Flats shoes. It seems as if there are two kinds out there: those that feel comfortable but fall apart quickly, and those that resemble medieval torture devices but withstand anything. Simms developed its new Flats Sneaker to redefine the comfort standard for saltwater footwear and still protect the wearer while on the flats.
The Flats Sneaker utilizes materials handpicked to provide maximum puncture and abrasion resistance from the many boot eaters commonly encountered on the flats. The innovative design offers support and cushioning generally not found in footwear intended for wading in salt-water. The heavy-duty urethane quarter panels provide puncture resistance against urchins, while the rubber toe and heel provide abrasion resistance from rocks and coral. The top of the shoe features a neoprene gasket collar to seal out debris, and the mesh vamp and tongue gusset drain water quickly and provide ventilation. The thermoplastic heel counter, a synthetic leather nonslip heel and an EVA midsole ensure proper fit and wear. Despite the heavy-duty materials used, the sneakers weigh just over 2 pounds, making them one of the lightest fully constructed flats boots on the market.
The Flats Sneaker comes in a sand color in 10 sizes ranging from 5 up to 14. Retail price is $99.
