In an effort to increase speed and handling, the folks at Corsair Marine, known for their nearly 20 years of building easy-to-sail, trailerable trimarans, have integrated a foil into the hull of their new 2200 outboard-powered fishing boat. The foil-assisted catamaran carries a length of 22 feet and has reached speeds of up to 50 mph. Designed to get up and run on its foil, the 2200 has reduced slamming, chine walking, and unbalanced turns while offering increased fuel efficiency.
Focused on performance, the Foiler 2200 utilizes a foam-sandwich production process incorporating layers of multi-directional laminates in areas of high impact. Adapting the design for fishing, the Foiler 2200 has integrated live wells, a custom T-top, bow dodger, salt water washdown and two insulated fishboxes.
