Boston Whaler Dauntless

boston_whaler_180d.jpg

Boston Whaler has redesigned its 180 Dauntless center console for 2002 by adding a spacious, full-width fold-down stern seat. The seat base provides storage for lots of gear, and a built-in live well is located in the port side of the transom. The battery and oil-tank compartment is located to starboard.

There’s a reversible helm seat with three locking positions, and the rod racks beneath the gunwales fold flat for storage when not in use. The console features lockable storage, and the helm area has space for flush-mounted electronics. The console also has two vertical rod holders per side.

The bow has a large casting deck with a storage locker that drains overboard. You can order a fishing chair for the bow or opt for a cushion that turns the deck into a sun lounge. An optional 54-quart cooler with cushioned lid serves as both a drink box and a forward console seat. Boston Whaler, Edgewater, FL; (386) 428-0057; www.whaler.com.
