What do you think about bend-back flies?

Q. What do you think of bend-back flies?

Lefty: I don’t fish in fresh- or saltwater without some bend-backs. Where there is a lot of turtle grass or floating vegetation or you are retrieving flies around coral or in very shallow water, the bend-back is superb. And you can’t beat one for casting into mangroves or under a dock where potential hang-ups abound.

One important point when using bend-back flies: Tie them on a 2 or 3X long-shank hook like a Mustad 34011. Regular shank hooks often miss the fish.
