How do Shooting Heads Work?

I read that forshooting heads to work properly you should go up one or two weightsfor the rod to load as designed. Do commercially made heads takethis into account or should I buy one heavier?

Most 30-foot commercial heads weigh correctly, andyou will usually cast a head better buying one or two sizesheavier. For example, if you are using an 8-weight rod, mostcommercial heads in size 10 will cast better, providing you have agood rod and you can cast well.
