Regulator proudly engineers and builds center console fishing boats for high seas and to higher standards. It’s been that way since 1988, when Joan and Owen Maxwell built their first Regulator 26 in an abandoned grocery store in Edenton, North Carolina.

From that classic has evolved a line of 10 offshore models, Regular 23 to Regular 41 as well as the XO Series of hybrid center console boats for lakes, bays and skinny waters and when conditions are right, offshore.

Seakeeper Ride is now standard on all Regulators while other new features include magnetic cushions, black powder-coated rails, LED light bars and fish box refrigeration.

Yamaha engines are factory-installed and Garmin electronics are rigged in-house.

Regulator 35

The Regulator ride gets a new design and a long list of high-tech systems in the new Regulator 35, an offshore center console two years in the making.

Powered by triple Yamaha Offshore F350s with Helm Master EX Joystick and equipped with a standard Seakeeper Ride 750 Ride Control System (the new Dometic DG3 Gyro Stabilizer is optional) the Regulator 35 stretches out to 40-plus feet with bracket and outboards.

A single centralized 405-gallon fuel tank provides a consistent center of gravity. Aft of the fuel tank is a machine room with a watertight bulkhead. The same self-cleaning, self-flushing sea chest used by the US Navy is now standard on the Regulator 35. Regulator installed the Dometic Marine E-Hub Lithium Battery System for power as opposed to a genset.

An oval-shaped pressurized livewell is set in the transom, while the slimmed-down port and starboard transom corners contain Blue Water bait stations. Dual flip-down seats on the transom stow away when fishing.

A new T-top design includes a custom ventilation system that replaces in-windshield vents to help eliminate mist. New drainage gutters serve as handholds, too.

The raised-deck offers three captains chairs at the helm. The center-set wheel and angled Garmin 9000 Series screens provide maximum visibility. Regulator’s MyHelm interface coordinates key functions on the Garmin MFDs.

The 35’s interior includes a bunk for two, electric head and sink, and plenty of storage. Split forward seating flanks the bow access walkthrough handy for anchoring or fighting a fish. The raised bullnose toe rail also adds a level of security when a fish takes you to the rail.

Editor’s Tip

On the 35, Regulator introduced a unique windshield vent, reconfigured the transom to include more fishing amenities and went with a lithium battery system to move away from a diesel genset. It rides great, too! -Charlie Levine
