Simply put, Venice and all of south Louisiana took it hard in 2005. But, as the old rock and rollers say: THE SHOW MUST GO ON.  Yes, The Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic? 2006 is happening!

Presented by Gulf Coast Hatteras and Hatteras Yachts, The Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic? returns to historic Venice, Louisiana for another year of fishing for BIG FISH and BIG MONEY.   During our inaugural 2005 tournament, we had 52 yachts participate, ranging in length from 32′-92′, and paid back more than $550,000.00, with more than 35 billfish released. If you attended our 2005 tournament, you should have had loads of fun; if you did not have fun, it was probably your own fault.  Ask anybody that was there: A good time was had by all.

In 2006, we will be headquartered at Venice Marina, a short boat trip to those world-famous, fish producing waters off the coast of Louisiana: still a Sportsman’s Paradise. Our dates are the same, the first weekend of June; Dock Party, Tuesday, May 30; our Captain’s Meeting/Kick-Off Party will be Wednesday evening, May 31, with boats departing at 4:00 PM, Thursday, June 1; fishing starts at 12:01 AM, Friday morning, June 2, and continues until 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 3. For 2006, an after-weigh-in Awards Party will surely represent a festive Cajun Saturday evening.
