Top Experts to Speak at FishStock/New Smyrna Beach

Sport Fishing magazine invites anglers of all ages and skill levels to attend a FREE, two-day seminar at FishStock 2005, a one-of-a-kind festival in New Smyrna Beach, May 28-29, 2005.

The seminars combine some of Florida’s most talented saltwater fishing experts who will speak on inshore, offshore and fly-fishing techniques. From 12 noon to 4 p.m.,on Saturday, May 28, and again on Sunday, the seminars will will take place at Riverside Park in downtown New Smyrna Beach. They will include the following experts:

Capt. Mark Nichols of Stuart, Florida, is an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and inventor of the popular D.O.A. Lures Inc., found in all 50 U.S. states and in numerous foreign countries. Mark will speak on using artificial bait for inshore fishing.

Capt. Keith Kalbfleisch, Orlando, has been fishing in Florida for 30 years, concentrating for the past 15 on the East Coast near Orlando. He has fished around the world for blue marlin in deep water to redfish on the flats. Well-known in the area, he has won numerous awards and has been featured in fishing shows such as American Angler and on Bass Pro Shops spots. Keith’s topic will be improving your tarpon and kingfish techniques.

Capt. Scott Tripp lives, sleeps, eats and breathes flats fishing. He is a full-time, licensed light- tackle charter captain. He lives in New Smyrna Beach and calls the north end of the Mosquito Lagoon his backyard, which allows him to immerse himself in his environment and the subtle changes these fish make each day.  Scott’s topic will be sight fishing for redfish.

Brad Lowman, Lake Mary, Florida, spent his early years chasing trout in Utah, where he documented his trout experiences with Utah Fishing Magazine and the local newspaper and on televised reports, earning him the official title of “Trout Bum.” Brad frequently appears at Bass Pro Shops as a casting instructor. His knowledge and experience in both fresh and salt water has made him a highly sought-after speaker at outdoor events, expos, retail shops and organizations. Brad will speak on offshore fishing on the fly.

Capt. Peter B. Wright, associate editor, Marlin magazine, has fished in all the waters of the world. He began working on charter sportfishing boats out of Hillsboro Inlet while still in grade school and fished marlin tournaments in Bimini throughout his high school and college years. He has caught more marlin over 1,000 pounds, “granders,” than any other charter captain or angler in history. Captain Wright has won dozens of tournaments and has guided his clients to numerous world records. He will speak on stand-up and fighting chair techniques.
Capt. Tony Nesotas, of Palm Bay, Florida, fishes the east central Florida waters for trout, snook, and reds in the Mosquito Lagoon and the Stick Marsh/Lake Kissimmee area for black bass. Tony will speak on targeting the docks and mangroves for fishing fun.

Capt. Joe Porcelli, Oak Hill, is a native Floridian and professional fishing guide who has fished the backcountry waters of Florida’s East Coast for a lifetime. Leading clients to numerous world records and successful daily catches are two of the many reasons anglers keep coming back to fish with him.   Porcelli targets area trout, snook and pompano on the flats in the daytime, but hunts monster black drum under the cover of darkness to protect his secret spots. He will speak at FishStock on hunting black drum.

Dave Justice of Greensboro, SC is a Berkley-Pure Fishing Florida Saltwater Fishing Field Service representative and fishes throughout SE United States’ saltwater regions. He will demonstrate effective knot tying and how to pursue snook.

Kevin Fenn**, Orlando, got the fishing bug at the age of six, and he hasn’t slowed down since. After “growing up,” he realized he could do something everyone dreams of: turning his passion and lifestyle into a profitable business. He was able to combine his life-long obsession with backwater fishing and marketing experience in 2004 when he created The Everglades Canoe Company. Kevin will demonstrate how to fish effectively from a canoe and kayak.

Todd Tharpe, Monteverde, Florida, has been an avid fisherman all his life. Todd founded Todd’s Reliable Rigs, in July 1995, specializing in custom offshore trolling rigs. It rapidly grew through acquisitions of other lure companies and design developments to become Todd’s Rigs and Lures, a highly successful lure manufacturer. Todd will speak on successful rigging techniques for offshore fishing.

Charlie Chapman, Longwood, Florida and Joe Mulson, Maitland, Florida, are seasoned salt water fly fishing experts and represent the Backcountry Fly Fishing Association of Central Florida. Chapman will speak on fly fishing the Mosquito Lagoon. Mulson, a certified FFF instructor, will offer fly-casting tips.

Capt. Don Dingman, of Jacksonville, Florida, is an acclaimed, full-time offshore and inshore professional angler and fishing guide. He has led kids to nine IGFA junior world records. An experienced and passionate billfish angler, he has pursued fish in inshore and offshore tournaments all over the world. He has been featured in all the popular fishing magazines and has appeared on local, regional and national TV shows and has also served as the key speaker at many local, regional and national seminars. Captain Don will host the popular kidstock events for youth, age 6-16.
