With more and more fly anglers going offshore looking for bigger and bigger fish, the fly reel becomes much more than a place to keep fly line. Big fish demand serious gear. This is exactly what led Ted Jurascick at Tibor Reels to develop the largest Tibor ever – the Pacific.

The new Pacific offers everything you’ve come to expect from Jurascick. Like all Tibors, the Pacific is machined from solid bar-stock aluminum and composed of 100-percent corrosionproof materials to ensure that it will last a lifetime. Designed for 13-weight or larger rods, the 13.5-ounce reel holds 500 yards of 50-pound Micron backing and a 14-weight line. The standard spool measures just over 5 inches in diameter and is slightly less than 2 inches wide. And if the standard spool is too much, Tibor offers an interchangeable larger-arbor spool, called the Spool2, which holds 400 yards of 30-pound micron and a 12-weight fly line.

Standard on the Pacific is Tibor’s new Gorilla handle; of course, it comes with a lifetime warranty. As with all Tibor reels, for a small fee the Pacific can be ordered in seven different colors, from the traditional satin gold or black to forest green or royal blue. The reel will retail for $665; additional spools cost $310.
