Storm Protection for ‘Rigger Sleeves

storm_protection.jpg
Because the East Coast experiences numerous tropical storms and hurricanes, I remove the outriggers from the T-top of my boat prior to the arrival of a big storm. To prevent water or debris from getting in the sleeve, I firmly place a racquetball in the hole. It’s a perfect, snug fit. Then, for double insurance, I cut a hole in a tennis ball and fit it over both the racquetball and the sleeve end to provide additional protection.- Frank Grant, Wilmington, North Carolina
