Leon Slikkers set a high bar when he began building boats in his Holland, Michigan, garage nearly 70 years ago, insisting on comfort, grace and refinement in every boat, and honorable and satisfying dealings with every customer.

He kept that bar high 40 years ago when he named his new fishing-boat series Pursuit, after the focused fishing for which it was clearly aimed.

The company he founded now builds center console, dual console, offshore, sport and sport coupe models from 24 to 40 feet, and it still attains those goals, our survey respondents said, citing Value as the brand’s strongest category. Respondents also ranked its stellar brand reputation and construction as the top attributes.

Pursuit, those responses make clear, builds hard-charging fishing boats that give up nothing in style and creature comforts: infused-fiberglass windshield frames cradling seamless, curved tempered-glass windshields; opulent seating; roomy head compartments; and elegant as well as practical fishing features.

An example of how deliberately Pursuit boats are designed? Through-hulls are prescribed, not just installed: bronze below the waterline, chrome over bronze below the 7-degree heel line and stainless-clad above it.

That kind of attention to detail helps nurture massive angler loyalty to these boats.

PURSUIT OS 325

The smallest of Pursuit’s three Offshore boats, the OS 325 fishes big at nearly 35 feet, from stem to stern blending fishability and luxury.

Creature comforts? How about a cabin hardwood-finished, trimmed with solid stock and appointed with modern fabrics? Sound-deadening insulation keeps it all mellow.

Custom seating and table transform into a V-berth, while aft is a full-size berth. A 19-inch LED TV is standard, as are premium speakers. On the port side is a full-feature galley with cooktop and microwave oven, at starboard a head with Corian countertop and shower.

The cockpit feels like a living room, the captain’s helm chair swiveling to share time afloat with passengers on molded L-shaped lounge seating. Tunes pour from a JL system with six speakers plus subwoofer; an entertainment center offers refreshments.

And still, at heart this is a fishing boat. So you’ll tally four stainless-steel gunwale rod holders, a lighted 24-gallon recirculating livewell, under-gunwale rod storage on both port and starboard, insulated fish boxes and a cockpit tackle center. The standard molded fiberglass hardtop bears four rod holders, a glass windshield and tempered-glass side windows. And, as our respondents noted approvingly of Pursuit, you have plenty of options too.
