Anthony Perkins, of Hampton Roads, Virginia, sent us this tip for using a pool noodle around fenders for protection from cuts.

“As a former mechanic, I know your arms can get pretty cut up due to sharp edges on fenders, so when I had to work on my trailer brakes, I took a precaution. I split a swim noodle lengthwise and fit it around the edge of the fender. One less thing to worry about as I worked on the trailer.”

Send us your original DIY ideas, along with a sketch or photo. If we use your suggestion(s), we will send you a Shimano Baitrunner spinning reel, featuring a fast-retrieve, front-dial drag adjustment and popular baitrunner system, valued at up to $189.99. Submit to Salt Water Sportsman, Rigger’s Notebook, 460 N. Orlando Ave., Suite 200, Winter Park, FL 32789. You also may send via email to [email protected].
