Orvis Vortex A/R

Orvis introduces their new Vortex A/R, which combines the convenience of anti-reverse with the Vortexs unbeatable retrieval rate.

There¿’ nothing like the first blistering run of a good-sized bonefish. And if you don¿’ get your fingers out of the way of the crank fast enough, the first run is all you’ll see of him ¿-unless you have an anti-reverse reel. ORVIS introduces their new Vortex A/R, which combines the convenience of anti-reverse with the Vortex¿’ unbeatable retrieval rate.
The Vortex A/R has the same large drag surface as the direct-drive Vortex. It is fully machined from bar-stock 6262 T-6 aluminum and has the same patented quick-release spool system as its predecessor. But the new Vortex A/R also has a few new features as well.
The Vortex A/R has an exclusive quick-clutch lever that allows an angler to strip line easily from the reel, then immediately switch back to the preset fighting drag, all at the flick of a lever, eliminating the hassle of constantly readjusting the drag.
This reel also features a drag knob on the outside of the reel ¿-out of the way, just where it belongs. The ubiquitous Vortex Swirl remains on the back, and the front features a beautiful landau crank lever.
The Vortex A/R is available in either black or gold finish and in line weights 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 with a price range of $535 to $690. For more information, contact Orvis, Historic Route 7A, Manchester, VT 05250; 802-362-8595.
