Renzetti Fly Fishing Fair coming to Titusville

Renzetti Fly Fishing Fair coming to Titusville

Anything and everything to do with fly fishing will be spotlighted at the second Renzetti Fly Fishing and Rod Building Fair on Dec. 6.

It will be held at the spacious Renzetti manufacturing center at the Spaceport Florida Industrial Complex at 8800 Grissom Parkway in Titusville.  It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission will be a $5 donation.

“Once again many of the legends of the sport of fly fishing will come together along with some of the finest rod builders in the country,” said Lily Renzetti, of  Renzetti, Inc., the country’s leading manufacture of fly tying and rod lathe equipment.

Renzetti and her husband, Andy Renzetti, owners of the firm, hosted the fair for the first time in 2006 when over 700 attended.

The day’s program will include fly tying and rod building workshops, casting clinics, seminars in equipment and rigging and tours of the Renzetti factory.

“The clinics and seminars will run continuous and will be taught by some of the finest instructors and leading experts in the field,” Renzetti said.

Lefty Kreh of the Baltimore, Md. area, regarded as America’s top authority on fly fishing and fly casting, leads the list. He will represent Temple Fork Outfitters and will give casting clinics along with Central Florida fly fishing expert Jon Cave. The fly tying experts will include Bob Clouser, Bob Popovics, and the team of Jay Murakoshi and Ken Hanley.

Jim Uptown from California, Tom Kirkman from North Carolina and John Stumpe from Melbourne, Florida will be among the rod builders.

Other notables expected include Flip Pallot, Nick Curcione and Pat Ehlers.

Tackle companies, fly shops, boat manufacturers, artists, lodges, outdoors travel agencies and others will be represented with exhibits. Among the boat companies will be Hells Bay Boatworks and Custom Gheenoe. The larger exhibits, as well as the casting clinics, will be outdoors.

Food services will be provided by a local Boy Scouts of America troop.

New this year will be a day-long fly fishing clinic on Dec. 5, given by Clouser, Popovics and Cave. It will be limited to the  first 15 who register. The fee is $300 a person and pre-registration is required.

On the evening of Dec. 5, the Renzetti’s will host a fundraising cocktail party to benefit Casting for Recovery, a national program for breast cancer victims, and the Kid’s Fishing Clinic held each June at Port Canaveral for hundreds of children. The party will be held at the La Cita Country Club in Titusville and the cost will be $100 a person. Reservations are necessary. All admissions to the fair also will be donated to the two programs.

“It doesn’t matter if you are only curious about fly fishing or a seasoned veteran, you will enjoy this fair,” Renzetti said.
