Live Well-Come Mat

st_tip_165x210.jpg

Whenever I go after redfish, seatrout or flounder, you can bet that I’ve got some mudminnows swimming in my live well. The only problem is that the minnows have a knack for slipping out of my hands and onto the deck where they’re impossible to catch. Now I keep a foam-rubber mat-the type that is shaped like an egg carton-in front of the live well. The pockets in the mat catch any baitfish I drop, which keeps me from having to scramble on all fours to grab the bait again.
