Snap swivels and rubber bands make deep trolling with planers simple and quick. Start by setting the planer while idling forward. Deploy a bait and drop it back the desired distance. Attach a rubber band to the fishing line with a Prusik knot and attach a snap swivel. Clip the snap swivel to the planer’s line and let the drag created by the water pull the bait down toward the planer.
