It might seem obvious prior to launching, but making sure the bilge plug is in place should never be taken for granted. Even the most experienced anglers sometimes find themselves with wet ankles as they motor away from the dock. Always leave the plug in the boat, preferably in the same place, and make a plug check part of your launch routine. If you never forget it again, you might be the only one in the world to lay that claim.
