Great White, Great Distance

A female great white shark swam 10,000 kilometers (about 6,213 miles) over three months from South Africa to Western Australia, according to a report on the International Big Fish Network website. By crossing the Indian Ocean while fitted with a pop-off archival tag that recorded her movements, the shark single-handedly altered the understanding of shark researchers, who previously thought female great whites stayed within a home range.
