The Magellan eXplorist 300 from Thales Navigation provides powerful GPS performance at a great price. The eXplorist 300 uses a WAAS-enabled, 14-parallel-channel receiver for fast signal acquisition, minimal signal loss and accuracy within three meters. Equipped with a barometer, altimeter and an electronic compass, this handheld GPS unit provides plenty of additional information at the touch of a but-ton. The eXplorist 300 has 8 MB of built-in North American maps and can store up to five track-log files, each with up to 2,000 track points. A large, backlit display and armored, waterproof case round out the package. The Magellan eXplorist 300 comes with a two-year warranty and sells for $199.
