Daiwa has recently introducedtwo new salt water spinning reel families to its Emblem line. Both the Emblem-ZA ($200-210) and the Emblem-XA ($125-145) familiesfeature three models, all of which feature aluminum spools witha reverse-taper design that allows line to flow smoothly off thespool. On the retrieve, the line is wrapped in precise, even cross-wrapsto prevent it from digging into itself under pressure. Daiwa’sCentrifugal Line Guard prevents loose line from snagging behindthe spool on the retrieve, yet automatically swings out of theway during the cast to prevent friction. Additionally, the reelsfeature massive drag systems with five felt and five stainless-steeldisks for a total of ten drag washers, plus a new Selective Self-Centeringfeature that rotates the bail into casting position at the touchof a button. The three models in each family will hold 180 yrds.of 20 lb. test, 240 yrds./20 lb., and 290 yrds./20 lb., respectively.Daiwa, Artesia, CA; (562) 802-9589; www.daiwa.com.
