Daiwa’s new Advantage Series spinning reels ($139.95-$149.95) feature super-rigid, aluminum-alloy bodies designed to maintain alignment under heavy load. The 6 Advantage models also feature 8 ball bearings and a roller bearing for super-smooth performance, plus Daiwa’s tubular-steel Air Bail that delivers perfect line retrieval on every cast. Infinite anti-reverse, an aluminum spool and a machined-aluminum handle arm are other features. Salt water anglers will be most interested in the 4 largest models in the series, all of which have a 4.9:1 gear ratio. The largest model (TDA4500S) weighs in at 15.2 oz. and holds 180 yrds. of 20 lb. line. Daiwa, Artesia, CA; (562) 802-9589; www.daiwa.com.
