The springtime run of bull Reds has slowed. They are still there, but seemingly impossible to approach without spooking. However the crystal clear waters of St. Joe Bay is now full of rain minnows, pogies and herring. Spanish Mackeral, some outsized 24-27 inches, are busting the bait on in-coming tides along with small Jacks. Sharks are a by-catch in this game. The Trout have finally entered the grass flats and have been very willing to eat Fluters, poppers, and Crease flies all day long. Lots of 2-3 pounders are being taken. Tarpon are beginning to show but not in fishable numbers – should be another fantastic season in 2-3 weeks.
