Massive Mako Landed on the Fly!

Awesome. That’s the only word worthy of this amazing catch. Angler Brendan Mason (www.riverandreef.com) caught this mako shark with Captain Dave Trimble, a guide for Bowman Bluewater (www.bowmanbluewater.com). Mason caught the shark just miles off the San Diego coast on a red-and-white tandem streamer on a 16-weight rod. The fight lasted 40 minutes and included many spectacular jumps. Eventually the fish was brought to boatside and released. The team estimated the shark to weigh more than 600 pounds and was more than 11 feet long. Congrats on an awesome catch.
