New Smyrna Beach, FL – FishStock, the one-of-a-kind festival of fishing and fun presented by Sport Fishing magazine, will kick off a third great year in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  Riverside Park in downtown New Smyrna Beach will host the two-day event on Florida’s Atlantic coast May 28 and 29.  On land festivities begin each day at noon.

“I look forward to this third year of **FishStock **as the best year yet,” said Drew Townes, Director of Sales and Marketing, FishStock, “We’ve had all the pieces in place for FishStock since day one, but this year I feel we have taken everything to the next level.”

Riverside Park will showcase what makes FishStock so exciting for everyone from kids just learning to cast to serious anglers chasing the biggest catches. On shore, the FishStock Village is the place to be for youth fishing seminars, boat shows, saltwater fishing clinics and other special exhibits. On the water, anglers can tackle inshore and offshore fishing tournaments.  The fishing tournaments including the 29th annual New Smyrna Beach/Daytona Beach Striker presented by Boston Whaler and the 3rd Annual New Smyrna Beach Mercury Outboard Redfish-Trout Challenge will take place over three days May 28-30.

Upgrades for 2005 include a new host of the kids’ fishing clinic known as KidStock. Captain Don Dingman host of the television show Hook the Future, a new series geared to help today’s fast-paced kids and parents who have less time for outdoor fun together, will teach kids the tricks of angling in their local fisheries during both days of FishStock, May 28 and 29.

Further advancement for 2005 will be in the Boat Show where perspective boat- buyers will be able to test-drive the new models in the water for the first time. Another new aspect will be an antique car show where local owners will be unveiling their most prized possessions for FishStock patrons.

As in year’s past, the elements that have made FishStock such a success will continue to be on the schedule. The area’s top professional guides will lead discussions on saltwater fishing techniques and share their expertise through hands-on instruction. And of course, everyone is invited to dig in for a taste of great regional seafood provided by local restaurateurs.

Competitive anglers can vie for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes while pursuing local species. The New Smyrna stop expands on the widely popular Memorial Day Striker Tournament.  Mercury Marine has created the Redfish Trout Challenge, an inshore tournament. Live weigh-ins from the tournaments will wrap up the action-packed days.
