Expert Fly-Tier Terry Friedrich passes

The flyfishing world has lost one its finest tiers. TerryFriedrich passed away suddenly at his home in Titusville, Floridaon the evening of October 1. He was 48 years old. Terry’sflies have graced the pages of books and magazines including FlyFishing in Salt Waters where his beautiful creations stillappear regularly. He was one of the pioneers of fly tying inCentral Florida and a meticulous and innovative crafter whogenerously shared his skills with expert and beginner alike.

Terry was anaccomplished caster who spent most of his time either searching forlargemouth bass, American shad, and bream on the nearby St. JohnsRiver or poling the flats for redfish and seatrout on the GreaterIndian River Lagoon System. He also set aside several weeks eachyear to visit his favorite western trout streams. His passion forflyfishing culminated in his establishing The Flyfisherman fly shopwhich he owned from 1983 to 1988.

Terry is survived byhis wife Debbie, son Karl, mother Elaine, and grandson Koleton. Hisgenerosity and dry sense of humor will be missed by his family andwide circle of friends. I will miss out time together on the waterand at the vise as well as the impromptu midnight casting sessionswe often shared in lighted parking lots.
