When Cortland wanted to design pretied leaders, it went straight to Stu Apte. Apte has guided and fished for big fish for more than 50 years and has caught more than 44 world records on fly tackle. It’s that kind of experience that Apte used to create the new Climax Saltwater Fly Leaders.
Each leader is hand-tied with top-quality materials using several different 100-percent knots, including Apte’s Improved Blood Knot. Each leader meets IGFA line-class specifications, and they come in three types – Snook, Tarpon and Big Fish. In addition, each type is tied in a wide range of class tippet and shock tippet sizes with abrasion-resistant monofilament. Shocks on the Snook and Tarpon leaders are made from premium-grade fluorocarbon.
These leaders come packaged five to a box, in a plastic storage sleeve so that the pre-straightened bite tippet sections stay straight until they are used. The leaders retail for $35.95 per package.
