Sometimes it seems that just when we finally find something we like, suddenly it goes out of production. This happens with rods all the time. While we don’t know whether reincarnation occurs for graphite composites, the spirit of the best-selling, most popular Orvis fly rods of all time has been channeled into the new Clearwater Classic series, bringing a true classic and a longtime favorite back to life.

Utilizing the latest techniques and graphite materials, Orvis chose the most popular rod taper throughout its history, the Clearwater, and built the new Clearwater Classic series to those specifications. The saltwater rods include a 2-piece 8-weight, a 4-piece 8-weight and a 2-piece 9-weight. All saltwater models feature fighting butts and corrosion-resistant reel seat and a half-well cork grip. Like every Orvis rod, Clearwater Classics are made in the company’s Vermont rod factory and backed by its unconditional 25-year guarantee. The rods retail for between $165 and $210.
