Connecting Leader & Line

I use your Kevlar-wrapped loop method to connect my leader and line, but I am considering simply tying a nail knot using 20-pound backing and then finishing it with Zap-A-Gap. Will this do the trick?

A
It will, but the glue will harden and eventually crack. If you want a different and more supple loop connection, I suggest you go to www.danblanton.com, click on “Tackle and Techniques” and find “Getting Looped.” Dan offers excellent illustrations that demonstrate how to use hollow braided line to make the loop you want. You can also look at Nick Curcione’s Saltwater 101 column in the January/February 2005 issue of FFSW.
