Its topwater time here in Georgetown, S.C. Water temp. is around 70, baitfish are arriving, and the trout are fattening up before thet begin spawning next month. The large redfish schools of winter are breaking up into smaller pods of hungry fish, look for them at lower tide phases tailing and pushing around oyster bars. Both species will aggresively attack a topwater, particularly at dawn or dusk or on overcast days. The next new moon, April 17, should bring the first “tailing tide” of the season, with reds up on the crowns of the flats searching for fiddlers.
