Redfish return

The redfish are moving back into the high marsh after a long winter here in Georgia

Happily the redfish are beginning to return to the high marsh to feed after a winter absence. The early spring fishing has been slow by all reports but last week marked the return of the fish to the spartina flats on the high tides. The square back crabs and fiddlers are not in abundance yet but the fish are looking. I found a few fish last week cruising looking for a meal, no tails though and spotting them in murky water on the high tide was tough, getting them to eat even tougher. I suspect the full moon in a few days will bring about an increase in crab numbers which will bring the redfish calling. Release a fish, catch it again. Captain Robert Szychowski
