Outdoor legend Curt Gowdy passes away at 86.

Curt Gowdy, the broadcaster who called Hank Aaron’s 715th home run and was the original host of “The American Sportsman” for more than 20 years, died in February at his home in Palm Beach. Gowdy fished some of the best spots in the world, including Cape Cod where he and late SWS Editor Frank Woolner worked the surf for stripers for an episode of “The American Sportsman”-as well as posing for the January 1968 cover of SWS (right).
