Creators Tyler Wald and Brent Schirmer traveled to El Salvador’s Pacific coast to visit Casa Del Golfo and explore a fishery bursting with life. Targeting iconic Central American species like roosterfish, yellowfin tuna, and billfish, the team faced challenges from low tides to elusive fish. Day one saw the team trolling offshore for billfish and tuna, landing only bonito. On day two, they shifted gears, casting stickbaits and poppers along volcanic headlands and chasing jacks and toothy mackerel around shrimp boats.
The final day delivered the trip’s defining moment. As spinner dolphins pushed tuna to the surface, Brent hooked a yellowfin on a cedar plug before Tyler connected with a true giant on a popper. After more than an hour of drag-screaming chaos, the fish hit the deck—estimated well over 150 pounds and the biggest ever landed at Casa Del Golfo—a record finish to an unforgettable adventure on El Salvador’s wild Pacific coast.
