Creators Aaron Benzrihem (Abenz Fishing) and Ryan Izquierdo (Ryan Iz Fishing) fished the flats of Mosquito Lagoon on the hunt for an inshore slam. They were looking for a destination that embodied skinny water sight fishing. Mosquito Lagoon checked all the boxes with its crystal clear waters, endless mangroves, and oyster beds.
Unguided, the team spent two long days searching for schooling redfish. Although the redfish at first eluded the two, Aaron and Ryan stuck to their guns. And they followed a game plan all the way to success. They not only landed redfish, but also speckled seatrout, pompano, snook and ladyfish.
Equipped with their skiff — an 18-foot Mako rigged with the new Garmin Force Kraken trolling motor — the team was able to stealthily navigate the shallow waters, throwing soft plastic shrimp and swimbaits. Now having a better understanding about the fishery, the creators are determined to return to Mosquito Lagoon in search of more hungry redfish.

Aaron Benzrihem is an avid angler based out of southeast Florida. He grew up snook fishing on Sanibel Island and now writes, shoots, and edits fishing stories and videos that document his efforts to catch the biggest inshore fish Florida has to offer.
Ryan Izquierdo (Ryan Iz Fishing)
Ryan Izquierdo is an avid angler and content creator based out of Florida’s Southeast coast. Born and Raised in Miami, Florida. Ryan specializes in hunting for Florida’s exotic freshwater species from the urban canal banks of Miami, to the picturesque Florida Everglades. He is currently pursuing a career in the Fire Service and creating content in his free time. Join him on his recent travels in the Amazon Jungles of South America hunting for River Monsters.
