SeaVee refers to its line of sport-fishing boats, sold factory-direct at lengths up to 43 feet, as “semicustom”: You begin with a solid design and fine-tune it to your wishes and needs. The approach has earned the company the allegiance of hardcore anglers and water-loving families alike.

Oh, and how they all love their SeaVees! The company’s overall survey scores were among the very highest, with respondents particularly enamored of the brand’s reputation, equipment options, cockpit space, speed and fish boxes — basic values in boats that go far beyond.

Always an innovator, SeaVee in the 1970s began placing motors below the center console to create the first open fishing boats with inboard power. The company next experimented with jet propulsion and anti-roll gyrostabilization. They also refined conventional inboard diesel power and modern IPS pod-drives.

The newest innovation is the SeaVee Z patented cross-ventilated, twin-stepped cored hull with SpeedRail technology. Its multiple lifting bodies produce a fixed running trim angle at any speed in a variety of conditions, minimizing bow rise and providing a clear view of the horizon at all times. SpeedRails provide lateral stability during hard maneuvering at speed to ensure the boat tracks through turns without hooking or slipping.

The SeaVee 320Z is an open, performance-aimed tournament-fishing boat with a wide-open deck and plenty of storage capacity for gear and bait — and the catch that’s sure to come.

Consider: a 160-gallon forward fish box; a 53-gallon forward fish box/livewell; a pair of 45-gallon forward wing boxes that serve as lockable rod lockers; a 60-gallon aft in-deck fish box/livewell; a 60-gallon transom livewell; a pair of 40-gallon aft wing boxes; and a standard 10-gallon storage compartment on the starboard side of the transom that can be upgraded to a 22-gallon livewell. (No wonder SeaVee fish boxes and livewells were highly regarded in our survey!)

There’s a custom tackle station at the rear of the leaning post, and that in-deck livewell, conveniently, is immediately behind it.

The 320Z comes ready to fish, but you can add yet more livewells, an upper station with full controls and your choice from a generous menu of leaning-post and T-top designs. Up front, you can place a pair of molded seats with electrically activated backrests and storage beneath. To the in-console storage compartment you can add an electric head. Fishing options include custom lights, outriggers, more rod holders, a coffin box with lift system and cushion, and more.
