Shark River shoaling an ongoing problem

The shoaling problems have created a hazard to boaters

Shark River Inlet is utilized by one of the largest party boat fleets (at Belmar) on the New Jersey coast, as well as by hundreds of charter and private boats, but it has been experiencing shoaling problems that have created a dangerous situation – especially during east winds on an ebb tide. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) arranged once again for dredging by the Army Corps of Engineers in December, but he noted that was the third time dredging has been required since December, 2007  — and asked the Corps to come up with a better solution to the ongoing problem.
