Mercury Marine has unveiled the latest in its line of Verado V10 outboards–an all-new 425 hp and an enhanced 350 hp model, both of which should prove ideal for powering a variety of today’s saltwater fishing boats in single- and multiple-engine applications.

“These new V10 Verado engines reflect our commitment to giving boaters exactly what they’ve asked for: greater performance with the same smooth, refined experience they expect from Mercury,” said John Buelow, Mercury Marine president. “With this launch, we’re raising the bar in the high-horsepower category and reaffirming the Verado family’s position as the pinnacle of premium outboard performance.”

Mercury reports that the new 425 is 3 seconds faster from zero to 30 mph than a 450 hp competitor on a 26-foot, 5,000-pound center-console boat with a heavy load. The outboard is also 254 pounds lighter and 22 percent quieter at cruising speed, according to Merc.  The new 425 is also equipped with a 150-amp alternator, which represents the highest output in this class of outboards.

The enhanced Verado 350 V10 is reported by Mercury to deliver a 2.7-mph higher top speed than a 350 competitor, is 4 seconds faster from zero to 30 mph, and proves 40 percent quieter at cruise.

Both engines offer V10 electronically fuel-injected powerheads and 26-inch center-to-center mounting to ease repowering boats originally rigged with older Merc L6 Verados or other brands of outboards.

Merc’s Digital Throttle & Shift functionality is standard, and the new models are also available with Joystick Piloting. The new outboards, along with the current 400 hp model, are now available through Mercury dealers and Repower Centers. To learn more, visit mercurymarine.com.
