California anglers are being reminded that any giant sea bass caught in state waters must be released.  A 1982 moratorium enacted by the state fish and game commission protects the species and appears to be aiding in the comeback of the once-endangered behemoths.

The state record giant sea bass stands at 563-1/2 pounds, caught in 1968 off Anacapa Island by James D. McAdams, Jr.
