I use a janitor’s key holder as an instrument retractor. These retractors usually have a heavy spring that retracts a length of chain or laminated steel cable. They hold – and retract – the heavier tools that salt water anglers use. Now when that fish shakes its head as you are reaching down to remove the hook and you drop your hemostat, it won’t go in the drink; it just retracts to your belt.
