Penn LD Series Reels

penndl.jpg

Penn has taken the proven lever-drag concept used in its International big-game reels and applied it to a new series of conventional reels. The 225LD ($138; 425 yrds. of 20 lb. test) and 245LD ($168; 475 yrds. of 30 lb. test) both feature rugged, one-piece graphite frames and machined, anodized-aluminum spools for light weight and strength. The heart of the LD series is the lever-drag system, designed to deliver smooth, fish-stopping performance. The drag can be preset to precise levels by adjusting the control knob on the sideplate of each reel. The 120-degree arc lever lets you control the drag pressure through three preset stops: free-spool, strike and full. Other features include 4 sealed ball bearings, gear ratios of 4.3:1 and 3.9:1 and an anti-reverse system. Penn, Philadelphia, PA; 215 229-9415; www.pennreels.com
