KVH’s GyroTrac gyro-stabilized magnetic compass uses solid-state components to provide high levels of reliability and performance. The gyro sensors in the compass have no moving parts, eliminating noise and system maintenance. According to KVH, the GyroTrac measures vessel motion and compensates for it, providing accurate heading data in the heaviest seas. The compass is self-calibrating and allows users to choose from analog or digital outputs, and magnetic or true north data settings. The GyroTrac features a watertight sensor box and optional display units and sells for $2,995. KVH Industries, Middletown, RI; (401) 847-3327; www.kvh.com.
